In celebration of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC, I figured it was only appropriate to feature a fashion illustrationist. There are so many talents out there, each with their own hand and individualistic style. However, none are more striking than the work by David Downton, who I feel achieves a perfect balance of fashion, composition, and illustration and artistic appeal in each piece he turns out. So many times fashion illustrations can either be so artistic that they lose the fashion element, or vice versa, are so focused on showing the fashion that the art aspect gets lost.
