Travel Spotting: The Inside Scoop on the New Life Hiking Spa

Written by Gary

I love hiking. There is something about being out in the wilderness breathing the fresh air, miles away from a wifi hotspot that makes me think: “God, life is great when I am not encased in walls of concrete and cab drivers!” More than once, I have invited a friend hiking with me, and they have responded by saying they don’t do the outdoors. I will no longer accept that reason as an excuse, however, because I have discovered the New Life Hiking Spa, in Killington, Vermont. Here are ten interesting facts about the New Life Hiking Spa, straight from the horses mouth:

Do you have bad blood circulation? The hotel is home to one of the largest field stone-fireplaces in New England.
New Life Hiking Spa is routinely selected as New England’s top destination spa.
Want to fit into a pair of Elizabeth and James slimslacks? New Life Hiking Spa also hosts an ongoing 11 night weight loss retreat (it has been featured on MSNBC, Shape Magazine, and Health Magazine).

New Life Hiking Spa in Killington, Vermont is where the Appalachian Trail and the Long Trail meet.

The hiking spa was started by Jimmy LeSage, M.S., who coined the term “Hiking spa”.

The hiking spa was selected as one of the 25 spas that are a pioneer in the industry, thus shaping the spa industry as it stands today (according to Spafinder).

Are you a foodie? The spa serves fresh, locally grown food from two Vermont farms.

Due to the spa’s close proximity to New York City (5 hour drive), it isn’t uncommon to spot a celebrity or two!

Mel Zimmerman, the founder of Canyon Ranch, lists New Life Hiking Spa as one of his favorite getaways.

The New Life Hiking Spa is only open for 19 weeks a year (mid May through the end of September).
