Yum Alert: Rum Cocktails Worth Celebrating

National Rum Day is August 16. Celebrate accordingly.

August 16th is National Rum Day, kids… so take this coming week to prep these cocktails & pitcher sized rounds to celebrate the right way.

Early Riser

  • 19 oz Ron Abuelo Añejo
  • 6 oz Jumbie Coconut Splash
  • 13 oz Mango Juice, fresh
  • 13 oz Pineapple Juice, fresh

Pour all ingredients into a pitcher and stir vigorously. Add ice, maraschino cherries and orange slices. To serve, pour into a tall glass and garnish with a sugar cane stick.

The Panamanian Soother
(Pitcher drink – served 8-10 developed by master mixologist Joseph Pogash)

  • 1 1/2 cups Ron Abuelo Añejo
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 oz agave nectar
  • 1 pack blueberries
  • 12 sage leaves
  • 2 bottles Diet Ginger Beer (Barritts’s or Regatta works best)

Directions: In large pitcher, muddle the berries and sage together. Then add remaining ingredients with ice and stir very well.
