Would you like a reason to go visit Canada? Of course you would! I am not sure this qualifies as a reason to go, but if you ever find yourself in Canada, the Semiahmoo public library in Surrey, Canada features a beautiful, lush vertical garden that qualifies as a living wall. The garden contains perennials, shrubs, and small trees but requires no soil, whatsoever. The mini-forest sustains itself the same way shrubbery grows on cliffs and waterfalls using nutrients from a built-in support system, basically creating its own ecosystem, insulating the library, and purifying the air. Its a good thing the Semiahmoo Library added this valuable feature to attract people, because I am 99% sure I am one of the only people in the US who still remembers what a library is.
