Travel Spotting: The Elephant Festival in India

Written by Gary

I’ll just say it since all of you were probably think it anyway. I am 25% Indian. I don’t know much about my culture except that we like to wear bright colors, and our food gives half the known world a bad case of the shits but I do think its important to know something about your heritage.

Upon my Googling adventures I came across The Elephant Festival.

It takes place in March at the famed Chaugan Stadium in Jaipur. One of the most awesome things about it is that they paint, dedazzle, bedeck, and decorate the elephants to look like painted up drag queens and parade them about town.

If you ever find yourself in India, in March, the Elephant Festival is a must-attend event.
