Travel Spotting: Derelict Disneyland

Written by Gary

There is something that has always creeped me out about Disneyland. When I think of the façade buildings, faceless people running around hiding behind furry costumes, manufactured fun, and children in general I feel a strange feeling in the pit of my stomach that says: “ I am probably going to get murdered or molested here one day, and nobody will know because Walt Disney himself will come back from the freezer and sweep it under the rug with some magic Fantasia brooms.”

But truthfully, I love the idea of how something so seemingly light and cheery could be skewed to the dark side. 45 minutes out of Beijing, China stands a derelict Disneyland. It was planned to be the largest amusement park in Asia, but disagreements over property prices with local government halted the construction and it was never picked up again. Now, the ruins of a palace, castle, and some steel beams stand alone near a corn field with no security.

Going to this haunted Disneyland is now on my list of life goals.

Plus, I am always looking for new and interesting places to have public sex.
