Have you ever wanted to go swimming in a volcano? If so, just hop on a plane and head over to Kelimutu National Park, and take a dip in one of the three color-changing lakes.

Located in Indonesia, near the tiny town of Moni, Kelimutu is a volcano that contains three strangely colored summit crater lakes.

I am going to break it down for you right now and tell you a little about the lakes, but I must warn you that trying to pronounce them is damn near impossible, so try at your own risk.

Tiwu Ata Mbupu, called Lake of Old People is towards the west, and is usually blue.

Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai, which means Lake of Young Men and Maidens is normally a bright green color.

Tiwu Ata Polo is referred to as the Bewitched, or Enchanted Lake is generally a muddy red color. The last two are separated by nothing but a crater wall.

The colors of the lake change depending on chemical reactions of the minerals in the water, triggered by volcanic gas activity. In laymen’s terms, that means I was totally kidding about swimming in them, unless you want your first baby to be born with three penises.
