Carmindy, co-creator of Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy, rocks my beauty world to no end. I’ve been a fan since the days of ‘What Not To Wear’ days, and continue to watch her every dewy-faced move as the authority on all things pretty. Her new book “Crazy, Busy, Beautiful” highlights everything beauty, and she was kind enough to give us her insider tips on how to conceal a sunburn.

Tips for concealing sunburn as found in Carmindy’s book “Crazy, Busy Beautiful”

1. “To cover sunburn, tap – don’t rub – liquid foundation onto the skin, using a non-latex sponge.  Dust on a yellow-based powder to reduce redness.” says Carmindy. We’re loving Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Your Skin Makeup [$12.95]

2.“Since you’ve charred your skin red, avoid wearing blush. Choose tawny or neutral lip colors (without a hint of red or pink) to tone down the red-alert effect.”, says Carmindy. We’re loving Hourglass Cosmetics Extreme Sheen High Shine Lipgloss in Child [$28 hourglasscosmetics.com]

TLS knows that drugstore products can save the day, too:

3. Use aloe vera with Lidocaine & menthol to relieve and cool the burn. We’re loving Rite Aide Aloe Vera Gel with Lidocaine 8 fl oz [$2.98 ]. But don’t put this in the refrigerator!! This can cause blistering and premature peeling due to the difference in the warm temperature of your skin vs the refrigerated aloe. Room temperature will do the trick.

4. Use baby oil in the shower (no cold water!!) to soothe skin and infuse deep moisture, to prevent skin from awful peeling. We’re loving Johnson’s Baby Baby Oil, Aloe Vera & Vitamin E 20 fl oz [$5.89 ]

5. After a big BBQ meal to fill your stomach, drink lots of water and take an anti-inflammatory, like a coated ibuprofen, to relieve the pain and swollen skin.
