St. Patty’s Day in June? Pinch me.

Written by Maura

“Seamus O’Toole, Bobby O’Shea. We’re gonna get drunk.” This fabulous line from Wedding Crashers sums up most of the activities that I attend. I am Irish, shocker I know..and the inhabitants of my little corner of New York is about 95% Irish. We enjoy celebrating everything..weddings, wakes, christenings..whatever we can find an excuse for. This weekend is my favorite..we found a way to celebrate the fact that our culture loves celebrating. The Brooklyn Irish Festival. This shit is great, just imagine St. Patty’s Day in June..it doesn’t get any better. If you aren’t Irish, no worries my friend..all are welcome to join in the dancing, singing, eating and rowdy drunkenness. The only warning I would put out there is to clear your schedule for the morning after the day you plan on attending, you might feel a bit “under the weather”, so to speak. The festivities will take place at Aviator Sports and Recreation in Brooklyn, if you need directions, here ya go. Gates open at 11AM on Saturday(June27th) and Sunday(June 28th) and activities continue all day long.

So come on out, listen to some amazing music(the likes of the Wolfe Tones, Pat McGuire, Jameson’s Revenge, and Seanchai and the Unity Squad) , pretend you have any idea how to do a jig, watch some big burly men in short shorts beat the crap out of each other (also known as the gentlemen’s sport of rugby), and have a Guinness. If you see me there right in front of the stage dancing like a fool, ignore me..I am in my element, allow me to enjoy my blissful moment.

Here is a full schedule of activities..hope to see everyone there!
