Sarah Palin Chastises White House via Twitter

Sarah Palin, STFU already, has taken to Twitter to chastise Michelle Obama for inviting poet and rapper Common to a poetry reading at the White House. The decision has come under fire due to lyrics that incite violence against former President George W. Bush.

Sarah Palin, STFU already, has taken to Twitter to finger-wag Michelle Obama for inviting poet and rapper Common to a poetry reading at the White House. The decision has come under fire due to questionable lyrics that incite violence against former President George W. Bush.

I’m a Common fan. But I get why inviting someone who used his platform to call for the hypothetical burning of a former President is controversial. Of course, it’s extremely likely that MO wasn’t aware of the lyrics in question. To the untrained ear, they’re not all that apparent. Despite that, under no circumstance would I be cool with a conservative President publicly supporting an artist who’d spoken that way about the sitting President (no matter how warranted I believe the artist’s criticism to be). I’m not wearing my hypocrite hat today. I believe Presidents owe a professional courtesy to one another. America suffers when our parties are pit against each other in a malicious and obvious fashion.

But coming from Sarah, the criticism is irrational. When she was on her Tea Party Tor de America, she empowered a bunch of dangerous fringe idiots who were perfectly content in calling for President Obama’s head on a platter, with all the trimmings. She supported them, she told them they were right to be angry about who’d won the election. She didn’t say, “Hey guys who bring stuffed monkeys with nooses hanging around their necks to my rallies, chill. Respect your President, he’s leading your country for the next four years (unless we get him impeached, heh heh).” She stood up in front of this pack of raving lunatics and gave them a fucking winky face.

Sarah Palin has a knack for hypocrisy. She mouthed off about her grandson becoming a victim of socialized medicine, but forgot to mention that Tripp currently receives government-provided health insurance. She was crusading against earmarks, until she locked a bunch down for the great state of Alaska. She thinks the use of  the word “retarded” is repugnant, unless it’s used ironically. I’d tell her to keep putting her foot in her mouth, but it doesn’t seem to keep her from talking.

The lyrics in question:

No time for that, because there’s things to be done / Stay true to what I do so the youth dream come / from project building / Seeing a fiend being hung / With that happening, why they messing with Saddam? / Burn a Bush cos’ for peace he no push no button / Killing over oil and grease / no weapons of destruction / How can we follow a leader when this a corrupt one
