This is What Real American Beauties Look Like

Written by Bryce

Remember the movie from 1999? It turns out this is what real American beauties look like.

Forget the airbrushing, waist-cinching, and all the general BS that goes into showing average human females like us what a genuinely gorgeous gal looks like, because artist Carey Lynne Fruth is delivering truth bombs by way of masterful portraits inspired by the 1999 blockbuster, American Beauty with Kevin SpaceyRemember the semi-nude white teenage girl upon a bed of red rose petals that were drifting aimlessly from the sky? Well, that’s recreated, but with purple lilacs and women of all sizes, ages and shapes, and *gasp*, skin colors. Imagine that– a curvaceous 60 something is still just as sexy as a teenager.

Carey Lynne Fruth’s project is titled ‘American Beauty’ because it highlights the reality of appeal in every dimple, curve, freckle, roll, scar, and just about every other thing we’re taught to see as imperfections. Nothing is imperfect about these American beauties, though, even if they look nothing like a blonde teenager. A 100-pound frame has the same exact potential to be as beautiful and alluring as a 250-pound frame, and Fruth thinks it’s high time the world acknowledges such.

So here’s what we know:

  • It just doesn’t matter if you’re a size 4, 14, 24 or any other size– you have the ability to look beautiful, and it starts with appreciating every corner of your body.
  • Purple looks good on everyone, apparently.
  • Age is just a number.
  • All boobs are ageless when our arms are lifted, so there’s that.

Here’s are some faves from the series:
