5 Art Galleries to See in Paris

For the history lover: Galerie J. Kugel

The owners, siblings Nicolas and Alexis Kugel, descend from ancestors of art dealers in Russia — most notably, their great-great grandfather, Elie Kugel, an avid collector of clocks and watches. Subsequent to Kugel’s watch collecting, the family began to deal antique silver and jewels. In the 20s, Nicolas and Alexis’ father immigrated to Paris where he opened galleries around the city. After the father’s death, the two siblings took over. Today, their primary space is located in a circa-1840 building, which displays furniture, sculptures, scientific instrument, and even Russian art.
