From MTV’s ‘hit’ show “Rich Girls’ to one of the most buzzed about debuts this fashion week, Ally Hilfiger’s newest design venture will be under high scrutiy – as the daughter of fashion royalty. Tommy Hilfiger’s daughter teams up with an unlikely partner. Not another overprivileged fashionista she went to summer camp with, but a dude she met at dinner in 2008. According to FashionEtc.com, “While Hilfiger grew up fashion royalty, [Nary] Manivong spent time as a homeless person living in Columbus, Ohio—a history explored in the just-released documentary, Dressed, which opened in New York on Friday.”
Their collection, dubbed NAHM (a mish-mash of their names), has been solidified with simple staple pieces.
“For their debut collection for Fall 2011, the team decided to focus on the shirtdress as a starting point. “We wanted to go to one basic item,” said Manivong, “like Diane von Furstenberg, who had the wrap dress.”
