Natural remedies for dandruff: deal with it the natural way!

Dandruff can be a real pain in the rear! It shows up on your clothes, pillow, and even in your food if you scratch at the wrong time, and it’s definitely hard to get rid of. You may have used dozens of anti-dandruff shampoos to no effect, but thankfully there are lots of remedies to help you deal with it the natural way!

Easy Natural Remedies for Dandruff

  1. Baking Soda — Mix a tablespoon of baking soda into a cup of warm water, and apply the mixture to your hair. Use it instead of shampoo (until the dandruff is gone), and you’ll find that your hair will be much cleaner and healthier in the long run.
  2. Apple Cider Vinegar — Mix half a cup of ACV with ¾ cup of warm water, and massage the mixture gently into your scalp. The acidity will help to deal with the dead skin cells, and it will act as an antiseptic agent to kill the bacteria that are multiplying on your scalp. Let it sit in your hair for at least an hour or two before rinsing, and repeat weekly.
  3. Fenugreek –– You will need 2 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds, as well as something to grind the seeds with. Soak the seeds overnight in a bowl of water, grind them up the next morning, and apply the paste to your hair. Let it sit for 45 minutes, then rinse off with warm water.
  4. Aspirin –– Crush up two aspirins and mix the powder into a cup of warm water, and apply the mixture to your hair. The salicylic acid in the aspirin will work like medicated dandruff shampoos, killing off the bacteria that is causing the increased skin cell decay rate. Leave the aspirin mixture in your hair for a few minutes, then wash with regular shampoo.
  5. Listerine –– For a minty hair wash, use any Listerine that is NOT green or blue. Mix 1 part Listerine with 2 parts warm water, and pour the mixture onto your hair AFTER you wash with shampoo. Let it sit for about 30 minutes, rinse with warm water, and enjoy the fresh, clean feeling of your hair!
