Nail Crave: Spring 2013 Essie and OPI Collections

Written by jessica.tannenbaum

I love nail polish, and we all love manicures.  Everything from the sleek look of the square bottle on the shelf to the sticker label with the color on it. The right shade can bring your outfit to a whole new level, and Spring polishes are my favorite.  As soon as March comes around, I grab my remover and scrub off the dark color that has been living on my hands since November and  this season, Essie and OPI really stepped it up a notch with their collections.

The new OPI collection is called “Euro Centrale”.  As per usual, OPI released 12 shades, but only one glitter polish.  All of the colors feature a play on words involving places in central Europe.  For example, my personal favorite shade, a beautiful periwinkle, is titled “You’re such a Budapest”.  Half the fun of these polishes are reading the names, if you ask me.  The shades range from bright pink, “Suzi’s Hungary Again!” to a dark, vampy purple “Vant to Bite My Neck?”.  Each color is made to fit whatever Spring mood you’re in, and could easily transition you to Fall 2013.

While OPI released 12 colors ranging from light to dark to glittery, Essie only released 6, each of which are bright or pastel.  Essie’s theme this spring seems is similar to OPI, but involves major world cities, such as Munich, Tokyo and New York City.  Each color in the collection is connected to their city; Tokyo, Japan’s shade, “Go Ginza”, is a cherry blossom pink.  The bright colors are so fun to wear and you can rock them all the way through summer.

This spring, you won’t be having to settle on a color that you don’t love.
