Music Spotting: Bob Dylan at the Capitol Theatre

Written by Casey

I am from Westchester, NY. Not too proud of the wealthy elite status of the kids that roll from this county. Nothing really ties me back to my hometown besides my mom, brother, our house, dogs, and high school friends. And a rather exceptional inexpensive coffee and bagel shop. But The Port Chester Capitol theatre is opening up which is very exciting. And what’s that they say? BOB DYLAN IS HEADLINING THE FIRST SHOW! If you have read any of my posts you know that my soul was born in the 1960s while my body was in the 1993. So I am pretty excited.  Apparently this theatre is going to be the new Bowery Ballroom equivalent and going to be the new place for big name stars like the Allman Brothers, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, and Bob Dylan to perform. Fun fact, I once attended a Bat Mitzvah and the inside  of this old theatre is gorgeous. They replaced original seating with a flat dance floor, still keeping intact the higher seating and the stage. Bob Dylan is coming back to Port Chester.

The Capitol Theatre says today that the legendary musician will headline the first show at the refurbished concert venue when it re-opens on Sept. 4. Dylan’s web site also notes the show date, with tickets going on sale on Aug. 17. There’s also a pre-sale ticket opportunity through Dylan’s web site starting Aug. 13. In the past, Dylan has used the Capitol for rehearsal space. The theater is undergoing a multi-million renovation designed to bring it back to life. Tickets are only $65 which is nothing compared to what us New Yorkers play when our favorite band is playing at Madison Square Garden.

Upcoming acts include Bob Dylan And His Band, The Roots/Bob Weir solo (A Benefit for HeadCount) (followed by DJ ?uestlove’s Cap Train Party), Hugh Laurie with The Copper Bottom Band, Buddy Guy & Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd & Robert Cray, Dirty Projectors, David Gray, Regina Spektor, Ben Folds Five, Fiona Apple, Psychedelic Furs w/ The Lemonheads feat. Juliana Hatfield, Al Green, Indigo Girls with full band, Ray LaMontagne, The Moody Blues, My Morning Jacket, and many more.
