Men’s Splendid Mills Shirt Review (by a man)

Written by admin

This week The Luxury Spot finally got some nice men’s swag for review and giveaway, and as the site’s lone male contributor I was happy to take this biatch on.

Splendid Mills sent over a sampling of their all organic shirts and scarves for us to check out. Splendid Mills’s product line has casual and clean look, mostly comprised of varying t-shirts, long-sleeve t’s, hoodies, and scarves. Their solid and striped aesthetic wouldn’t look out of place at an American Apparel.

The official statement claims Splendid is “known for it’s luxurious and comfortable fabrics used in the construction of their garments. The styles are based on classic men’s silhouettes, staples that exude both masculinity and comfort, and most importantly, will never go out of style.”

Sounds up my alley, especially the part about exuding masculinity. I tried on Splendid’s long-sleeve striped t in a small. The cotton was very soft and comfortable. I’m not sure how much the organic process affects the texture, but it feels nicer than similar shirts I’ve worn. The fit is slightly loose for a small, but it drapes nicely and conforms to your figure.

Realizing I was late for a CMJ showcase, I paired the shirt with a Splendid scarf, casual blazer, and my new gross beard and took the whole ensemble for a test drive. Reactions were generally favorable. The indie kids thought I was cool, and my lady liked the feel and how it worked with my shape. Two thumbs up.

The only drawback is price. While Splendid is a noticeable step above American Apparel in terms of quality, their simple t-shirts START around $50. If you have a decent bankroll and organic is important to you, paying $120 for a long-sleeve jersey may be justified. I might have to wait until I achieve baller status.
