FAMILY FASHION Pregnancy

Maternity Crave – Isabella Oliver

Written by Jess L

It’s springtime, which means pastels, coloured skinnies, halter tops, booty shorts, and tons of other super-fun clothes. And I can’t wear any of it. Because I’m pregnant, and unlike some pregnant ladies (like certain friends of mine… you know I love you guys), I can’t keep wearing my normal jeans with a rubber band through the buttonhole until 35 weeks In fact, I’m a pretty bootylicious lady – in a Beyonce sense, not a too-much-Krispy Kreme sense, but still – and so I am currently relegated to the fashion Siberia known as maternity clothing.

Of course, the frozen tundra of maternity wear is getting quite a bit less desolate in recent years. Unlike those women in the 70s and 80s who had to literally dress like infants when they were pregnant– have you seen those photos of Princess Di when she was pregnant with Wills? Poor lady – modern women have far more options for dressing like, well, actual women. And today we’re going to talk about one of the best: Isabella Oliver.

Isabella Oliver is a British maternity brand that really understands how to dress a pregnant woman’s body. You won’t be sacrificing style, quality or material like you often do with maternity clothes.

I am kind of obsessed with the Tilda Print Maxi Maternity Dress. It’s something I’d wear every day even if I weren’t pregnant. Oliver also does the most amazing things with kimono-style ties and wraps: the Empire Tie Maternity Top is amazing, and the Ruched version is even better, if possible. Also, the Tie-Front Maternity Blouse. OMG.

What’s that you say? You don’t want to spend $300 on a dress that you’ll wear for six months of your life? Guys, this is The LUXURY Spot, and a few investment pieces are totally worth it. And hey, if you don’t want to spend big bucks on a luxe maternity wardrobe but you can’t give up gorgeousness, there’s always MineForNine.com (which the lovely Bryce blogged about here: Rental Maternity Clothes)
