Mackage Takes Manhattan

Written by Lisa

There’s a new boutique in town…but don’t blink – it’s only here for the month of September. (Which, as a Libra, I gotta say is one of the best months of the year.)

What’s this fleeting, fabled boutique I speak of? Why, it’s Mackage, the super-luxe line of coats from Montreal-based designers Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan…which will almost make you glad to see cooler temperatures again. After all, what better way to kick off fall than with Mackage’s latest collection of luxe wool coats, exquisite leathers, sleek trenches, sophisticated puffys and unique packables?

As noted, the designers are from Canada, so they know how to keep you warm…and each coat in the collection has signature touches like leather accents and an embossed strappy thing on the back of the neck.

One of my favorites in the Fall 2009 collection is Trixie, a slim-fitting jacquard wool coat with a leather strap at the midriff and big, shiny buttons (although I also obviously enjoy the Lacey lightweight leather coat as well).Picture 4

I was told this is Mackage’s way to tentatively dip its toe in the NYC market…so, don’t be shy! Get thee to 829 Washington Street (between Gansevoort and Little West Twelfth) posthaste…

This is especially true on Fashion’s Night Out. That’s when Mackage gets in on the action by hosting an evening of style tips and music: From 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., fashion authority Phillip Bloch will provide seasonal fashion tips and one-on-one style consultations; and from 9:00 to 11:00 P.M., internationally renowned model Irina Lazareanu will spin tunes in-store.

Plus, shoppers will have the opportunity to enter to win two coats from Mackage all night long. (Cue the Lionel Richie?)
