I have pretty much given up on the idea that unicorns ever existed. My contribution to unicorn mythology is going to involve buying a life-size Swarovski encrusted gold unicorn statue for my living room as soon as I make my fortune.
Still, any unicorn-related news is worth reporting, so I happily introduce to you Unicorn Cave, the largest cave in Germany’s Harz Mountains. Unicorn cave is known for housing large amounts of unicorn bones.
The cave was discovered in 1541, and reported as a source of unicorn artifacts because it was filled with strange bones.
Scientists eventually realized that the bones were actually from prehistoric animals that took shelter in the cave and totally died. 70 different species have been excavated from the cave, and unfortunately none of them were unicorns.
