Sulfate-Free Shampoo That Lathers Like a Champ

Written by Bryce

Lather is one of the joys of washing one’s hair, and sadly, most sulfate-free shampoos have stripped us of that joy (but thankfully not our color). A few weeks ago the PR gal for ColorProof asked me to give their new ClearItUp Detox Shampoo a whirl. I’ll be honest- I wasn’t super excited because I thought it was just another sulfate-free, less chemically enhanced shampoo that’d leave me generally clean without any excitement. LADIES AND GENTS, I WAS WRONG.

I tried it yesterday (yeah, that’s how cool I am on Saturday evenings lately) after a particularly long week and a particularly stretched-out blowout. I’m not kidding, I had been rocking the same blowout for a full 6 days, giving my grandmother’s hair tactics a serious run for her money. I had the blowout touched up a few days ago with dry shampoo and magic at a photoshoot, so it really lasted but was truthfully a gross mess of life residue and weird dry shampoo ingredients. I didn’t expect the ColorProof to fully get the gunk out, but it did, and much to my surprise it lathered better than any bottle of Herbal Essences in 1998 ever did. Seriously, I actually lathered, rinsed, and repeated because I had so much fun seeing bubbles for the first time since sulfate-free became the beauty-editor norm (that’s a few years at least by now).

“This 100% vegan next-generation super-charged detoxifier is the ultimate rehab for color-treated hair. Special ingredients, including baking soda and Vitamins C and E, very gently cleanse and deodorize hair while removing dulling build-up, but without stripping color.  Leaves hair feeling amazingly clean, soft, touchable and weightless, unlike any clarifying shapmoo you’ve ever used and all without the use of sulfates, salts or gluten. Unleash your shiniest, most vibrant color ever.”

100% recommend for colored tresses and those who are generally lazy about shampooing.

$29.95 for 10.1 ounces, sold at salons and spas nationwide.
