5 Simple Tips To Saber A Bottle of Champagne

When it comes to throwing a good party, there’s a few things you can do to make your party memorable. We all know that there’s nothing more opulent than sabering your favorite bottle of bubbly (without taking someone’s head off). Patrick Cappiello sabers off so many bottles a night at his restaurant Pearl & Ash that he knows exactly how to do it! Whether you’re throwing a Great Gatsby themed bash or just trying to show off that special someone, these simple tips are sure to help.

1) You’ll want to use a sparkling wine or champagne. You’ll want a heavy bottle with a good amount of pressure behind it.

2) Make sure to remove the foil and the cage.

3) You’ll want to take the saber (or the blunt side of a chef’s knife) and make contact at the base.

4) Make sure you’re just moving the saber up the base (don’t loose contact from the bottle) and slide up the neck of the champagne bottle.

5) Keep it at a 45-degree angle and a full swing up the neck of the bottle and it should pop right off.

It may take a few times to get it right. So practice at home until you’ve got it down until you break out a huge saber and make a man go weak at his knees.
