Natural Remedies for Cavities

Written by andy

A few natural remedies for cavities that are easy to work into your everyday life:

Cavities aren’t just unsightly–they can be pretty painful as well. You may find that the rot can spread down to the gum or even the jaw bone, which can lead to some pretty serious oral health problems. You may end up with broken or cracked teeth, and you’ll need to get the dentist to either pull the tooth or cap it to prevent the cavity’s spread.

Or you can just use the natural remedies below to treat the cavity. They can also help to prevent future cavities, so they’ll make your life a whole lot easier!

What Causes Cavities?

Tooth decay is essentially the result of three things:

  1. Not enough minerals in your diet. The minerals you are lacking are the ones needed to keep the enamel of your teeth hard, make repairs to the tooth, and keep the tooth’s natural defenses strong. A healthy balance of minerals also ensures that your body has what it needs to suppress the growth of bacteria in your mouth.
  2. Not enough vitamins in your diet. Vitamins A and D are vital for healthy tooth growth, and Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can help to reduce the spread of the bacteria that cause tooth decay.
  3. Improper nutrient absorption. If you have digestive problems, your body cannot get the right balance of nutrients, which leads to the insufficiencies listed above. The bacteria begin to spread out of control, and minerals are pulled from your teeth–leading to tooth loss.

Natural Remedies for Cavities:

If you’re worried about cavities, try the natural remedies below to help you deal with the problem:

  • Eat fewer sugary foods — Sugar is traditionally what causes cavities, so eating fewer sugar-rich foods can be the best way to stop cavities from forming. Sugar wears away at the enamel of your teeth, making it easier for bacteria to multiply around your teeth and gums.
  • Eat more veggies — Vegetables are loaded with the minerals your body needs for good oral health, so it’s in your best interest to eat veggies as often as possible. If you can focus on the cooked veggies, you’ll find that it will be much easier for your body to digest certain vitamins and minerals. Soups made with animal bones (chicken and beef are best) will help to enhance tooth health.
  • Eat more fat soluble vitamins — Both Vitamin A and D are needed for healthy teeth, so it’s important to get more of these vitamins. Vitamin A can come from carrots, sweet potatoes, and colorful bell peppers, and Vitamin D can come from sunlight and fortified milk.
  • Get more calcium — Your body is likely to be suffering due to a lack of calcium, and your teeth are just one of the places that the deficiency is visible. Make it a point to eat more calcium foods, such as butter, milk, yoghurt, and broccoli.
  • Eat more gelatin — Gelatin helps to restore the healthy balance in your mouth, and will promote the growth of healthy teeth. Gelatin is a good alternative to bone broths, which contain the natural gelatin found in bone marrow.
  • Eat gland and organ meats — These meats are rich in the vitamins your body needs to keep your teeth healthy, so it’s a good idea to add a few more meals of meats like liver and kidney to your diet.
  • Eat Vitamin E foods — Coconut oil, olive oil, and fortified margarine are all a good source of Vitamin E, as well as fatty acids that help your body to absorb calcium, Vitamin A, and Vitamin D.
