Shell is a villa located in Kitasaku, Nagano in Japan. It was built in 2008 on a 1,711 square meter site, and has a 329 square meter floor plan. It is designed to withstand the cool and humid climate, and because of the shortened holidays available to visitors, it requires little maintenance. All mechanical and electrical equipment is controlled by three buttons of the central control system. It hinders the formation of mold, blocks cold air drafts, and has a floor-heating system that minimizes energy expenditure. It’s built around a central fir tree, and harmonizes beautifully with its surroundings.
