Hipsters to Become More Modest Thanks to Hassidic Jews

Written by Bryce

Holler if you hear me.

About a week ago my good friend, Aaron Short, wrote on article on the growing need for hipsters to be more modest in their native land of Brooklyn- also the native land of the Hassidic Jew. It’s a bizarre culture clash that could only be born and bred in New York. While one wears ankle-length skirts in translucent yellow fabric, the other wears knee-length skirts in thick, unforgiving black wool. How could these two ever live side by side? I thought Aaron’s words were an isolated incident- that he might’ve been the only writer to notice the growing trend of rabbis trying to convert hipsters to more modest ways… then I saw this in today’s Metro NY. Hipsters are to become more modest.

Truthfully, I don’t think it’s all bad… hipsters tend to have too many holes in their clothes for my personal taste, and I’m not really a fan of unicorn tattoos, used needles strewn about the Brooklyn waterfront, or Pabst as a meal replacement.

  • Your description of hipsters sounds like someone who’s only read about Williamsburg in magazines, truth be told. 🙂

  • hahaha i think your description is spot on bryce. the only thing you forgot to mention were bicycles. a bicycle is pretty much part of the hipster uniform.
