Awkward Class Photo? or Prada’s Spring 2014 Campaign?

Written by corey

It’s that time of the year when all of the spring fashion campaigns start coming out. This time, we’ve got the Prada Spring/Summer 2014 that reminds me more of an awkward class photo than a fashion campaign. The campaign was shot by Steven Meisel and features a wide range of new faces. The best part? Some people are calling this campaign “diverse” for featuring “not one, but two colored models,” which really just makes me chuckle. So how about we poke some fun?

Personally, I’m not too sure what the whole theme behind the campaign was. If they were going for creepy, they more than succeeded.  At firs glance, the whole group could just one high fashion sorority. Did they just come from an on-campus mixer? Or were they doing one of their ancient rituals, passed down from generation to generation? I don’t really care actually. The models all look a little stiff to me (and while models usually are), I find no passion in these girls eyes as they represent their sorority.

It could also very much be a vintage class photograph that had color added in later. The colorist may have went a little overboard with the colors of the times, but I’m pretty sure he nailed it. Just look at how everyone has a blank stare on their face and has a strong urge to grab a drink or walk out of the lens.
