Once a cheater, always a cheater

Written by Maura

So, my best friends have recently signed up for a weekly boot camp in an attempt to whip their butts into shape for summer. Unfortunately, the weekends seem to be resulting in the two steps back from the one step forward of boot camp. Between barhopping on Friday and Saturday and then cheating with a big bowl of ice cream on Sunday night, their progress is lagging to say the least. I wish there was some way I could help them..but to try to convince my friends to stay away from booze and/or sweets is an impossible task. So here is what I’m thinking..liquor ice cream! Hear me out. So, I’ve always heard that liquor has less calories than beer, and if they are going to be eating the ice cream no matter what, might as well kill two birds with one stone! Isn’t one bowl of liquor ice cream better for you than a night of beer drinking and then a bowl of ice cream? I mean I’m no nutritionist but it makes to me, and who couldn’t stick to a diet with liquor and ice cream? Well whether it’s good for ya or not, it at least sounds interesting..worth a try! It’s even been part of a House episode (he made an “ice cream” bar at a bachelor party with a stripper serving “bartending”), and the cast seemed to find it super yummy!

The Ice Cream Bar Inc. has created Blend’s Liquor Ice Cream—34 flavors of booze flavored frozen deliciousness. The company is based out of Minneapolis, MN and from what I can tell is only available in a few spots. J.P. Licks, a Boston based ice cream place has also done alcohol related ice creams. For Oktoberfest, they came out with three flavors using Sam Adams beer. So keep your eyes open for this trend, I’m sure we’ll see it grow in popularity!
