Jeff Koons’ Sculptures

Jeff Koons is an American artist known for his large balloon animals produced with stainless steel and mirror finish surfaces. His works have been on display in some of the most famous museums all over the world. Koons’ work has been sold for astronomically substantial prices including at least one world record auction price for a work by a living artist.

The largest sum known to be paid for a work by Koons is Tulips which was sold for $33,682,500 at Christie’s New York on November 14, 2012 (Lot 35) in the Post-War & Contemporary Art Evening Sale.

He is extremely talented however there are many critics who believe his work to be crass and based on cynical self-merchandising. However, Koons has stated that there are no hidden meanings nor any critiques to his work.

What do you think of his work? Très chic or très fou?
