I’ve Hit the Mother Lode.

Written by Maura

We are called TheLuxurySpot for a reason. Now I know we have a rather unhealthy, sometimes bordering on inappropriate sense of humor but at the end of the day we are a smart group of people who know what we like and know where to find it. If you are looking for pure luxury, here is the story of the day I found the MOTHER LODE.

Saturday morning, I awaken slightly hungover from a few too many glasses of red wine the night before and shuffle to my kitchen for a much needed cup of coffee. I shower, get dressed and head downtown with my friend, Lindsey. Now Lindsey is a gorgeous 20-something who has the taste of a multi-millionare’s wife, with the humor of Chelsea Handler..in a nutshell, she’s effing awesome. So you can just imagine how optimistic I was for this day. We head to the Battle House, Renaissance Hotel and Spa in downtown Mobile for a day of facials and laughs. Now, when you move from New York City to Mobile, Alabama you would think you’d have to kiss your high class treatment goodbye, but no, no. If anyone could find New York City luxury outside of the borough of Manhattan it would be a LuxurySpotter. So we walk into the spa, and it is an immediate sense of relaxation–imagine dark woods, dimmed lights, the sound of running water–just zen amazingness. We first go to the Quiet Room, which I’m 98% positive is fairly similar to the waiting room in heaven. Curled up in fluffy robes with Mimosas, a fireplace, lounge chairs, hot tub the size of my apartment..if you have cured your hangover in a better way, please let me know, so I can promptly slap you and tell you how wrong you are. So after a few minutes we are called into our respective rooms for the facials.

This would be the Jacuzzi the size of my apt.

Now when I say facial, I specifically mean Transformation Facials by Skin Authority. I have been a major fan of Skin Authority ever since I tried the Go! Gorgeous Kit, but this is the first time I got one of their treatments outside of my own bathroom. Skin Authority is always proud of their consultants and really encourages people to take full advantage and now I know why. My esthetician, also named Lindsey, who gave me my facial was extremely knowledgeable about not only the treatment but each product she used(of course all Skin Authority). This was 50 minutes of the whole 9 yards, people–steam, cleanser, mask, extractions, moisturizers, arm and hand massage..everything and more you could want from a facial appointment.

Fellas, if you want a very merry Christmas or a very happy Hanukkah, spring for one of these for your significant other. The ladies in your life will be impressed to say the least. And ladies, if the guys don’t get their acts together, you go ahead and treat yourself..you deserve it! The transformation facial is $110 and WORTH EVERY PENNY, seriously. Lindsey and I were considering how we could afford to do this monthly and let’s just say I’ve never considered selling plasma or working the corner more seriously in my life. There is just no better way to melt away winter blues than with a spa day. Now no worries, you won’t have to come to deep south to get your Skin Authority treatment, even though I’ve gained a little southern pride and now think that everyone needs a trip below the Mason Dixon line at some point (btw 20 bucks says Bryce took that as a dirty reference, there’s that sick sense of humor I was talking about). Skin Authority has authorized reseller spas and resorts in 20 different states, so head to their website to see where you can get yours!
