Glittering Conscience

Written by Kela

By now, just about every fashionista has figured out a way to incorporate eco-friendly attire into their wardrobe without having to compromise on style.  Finding the right jewels to compliment that new green look, could however be a problem.  Enter… Ruff&Cut, a new socially responsible jewelry company that combines conflict free diamonds with recycled gold; connecting consumers with the communities from which their jewelry originates.

Already attracting such A-listers as Selita Ebanks and Karolina Kurkova, Ruff&Cut ensures their customers a one of a kind purchase and “socially responsible luxury.”

In honor of  the company’s launch and to promote safe mining and ethical business practices, the glittering conscious line is initiating Rock with Purpose.  For every purchase made on Ruff&Cut’s website from October 16 – November 16, 2008, they will donate 20%, in addition to their regular 10%, to the improvement of Sierra Leone’s mining community.
Conflict free diamonds + a guilty free conscience … sounds like problem solved!!

  • Love the article. It’s definitely refreshing that among the glitz and glamour of fashion there are some socially conscious and responsible designers. I’ll definitely be looking into this company.

  • It’e nice to know that people are really taking the conflict free diamond issue to heart along with being eco-friendly. You can beat that. Great post!

  • Wow very cool. Thanks for the info. This piece really opened my eyes to a new way to shop for jewelry.
    Thanks Kela!

  • I must admit that I thought I knew just about everything there is to know about fashion, but from reading this piece, I must admit I was wrong. This jewelry brand seems really interesting, and I think they are doing a wonderful job. Continue to keep educating me with what I “thought” I already knew. : ).
