FLYING SPIDERS IN CHICAGO, YOU GUYS.

Every spring in Chicago, ‘flying’ spiders are found outside the windows of skyscrapers.

If I ever need a reason not to move to the windy city, flying spiders are it. Each spring, residents of Chicago report finding spiders outside their windows, sometimes as high as 81 floors up. You have to wonder how in the Hell a spider could get up that high, since they tend to stay low to the ground where there are plenty of insects.

Apparently in the spider world there is something called ‘ballooning’.  In order to ‘balloon’ a spider lets out a little strand of web which catches the wind, and blows them all over the place until they land in some random destination. Since Chicago is windy as hell, this random destination frequently includes the windows of skyscrapers.

Although the spiders don’t tend to come inside, residents are warned to keep their windows closed if they want to keep the buggers out.

So basically what we should learn from this story is to never visit Chicago in the spring.

You’re welcome.
