On Saturday, my girlfriends and I are heading up to Columbia University’s Miller Theatre to watch the New York Regional Harmony Sweepstakes.

A cappella groups are going to battle it out to win the coveted title and for a chance to compete in the finals in California. Did you watch NBC show, The Sing-Off in December? Yea, this show was based off this competition. Basically American Idol for a cappella groups. Think this is dorky? There’s nothing wrong with being dorky. There are definitely hot dorks who can also sweep you off your feet with their singing. (Figuratively and literally!)

From doo-wop & barbershop, gospel, jazz, to contemporary vocal music. (Justin Timberlake anyone?) Be sure to catch the after-party if you want to snag yourself your own personal singer (most of them have day jobs so don’t worry about starving artists).

Animal themed decor is super hot right now – but killing endangered species for their fur isn’t exactly awesome. The Bear Hunter by French designer Lise Lefebvre, a reformed vintage wool Persian style carpet shaped as a bear, is a great twist on the trend. Look at that painted plastic mouthpiece!!! Hilar!

Betty White is a freaking legend. I literally used to start EVERY DAY by watching the Golden Girls on the Lifetime network while getting ready for class. Now, I own them all on DVD. Ever since, I love getting me some Betty White. Ever since seeing her recently with Sandra Bullock in The Proposal or her hilarious SAG Lifetime Achievement Award speech last year, everyone wants more. Well we got it! With the entire nation apparently coming down with “Betty Fever,” she got a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live May 8th and now a new show!!

Lion King toy FAIL. Like really toy developers?! Did you really not see this before shipping it out? I get it. It’s supposed to be the scene where he lifts baby Simba up. Got it. I also remember when Disney movies corrupted us 80’s kids in the past with SEX written in the stars in The Lion King or a penis on the cover of The Little Mermaid (please tell me I’m not the only one who remembers this?!), so I’m not surprised.
