While diamonds – or any other gem, for that matter – are a girl’s best friend, the economy has many of us cutting back on our BFFs (especially those by the name of the much-loved Judith Ripka). Yet, even in these less-than-stellar times, Essie is hoping to help us increase our inner circle of besties with the launch of a diamond-infused nail color collection inspired by jewelry designer Judith Ripka.
The collection, which will include 3 colors (Put a Ripka Ring on It, a light pink; Heart My JR Jewels, a deep burgundy; and Queen of Hearts, a true red) will not only be infused with diamond dust – both to give the colors a non-sparkly glow and to help the polish adhere more strongly – but also three special bottles will have an extra precious present with purchase: one will hide a diamond inside, another a sapphire, and a third an emerald.
Available in August, the $15 bottles will be available through Essie’s and Ripka’s Web sites. Unfortunately, though, this collection of Essie colors will be sold in soft-touch boxes to prevent customers from trying to scope out bottles containing the jewels before purchase. Too bad for those of us who were hoping to scour our cities for the winning bottles…
