Dying for a Diet?

Written by Steph

Drink it up to trim it down.

I’ve found it impossible to drag my ass to the gym this summer, but between all of the beer and barbecues… sacrifices must be made. I’ve always had self-control when it comes to dieting (at least, more so than when it comes to exercising. In my gym, located on the ground floor of my apartment. I know. You’d kill for a gym in your apartment, wouldn’t you? Don’t hate me.) Anyway, whenever a get-thin-quick scheme lands in my lap, I’m more than willing to give it a go.

Of the Drink Neuro fam, Neuro Trim is a citrus-flavored diet drink growing in popularity with celebrities like Kate Hudson and GaGa, so I was anxious to try it. I mean, if it’s good enough for GaGa, it’s good enough for me. Its key ingredient is LuraLean, a Japanese fiber derived from the konjac root. Once it’s swallowed, the konjac fiber swells over 200 times its actual size, which tricks your body into thinking you’re full. It’s not meant to replace solid food, though– you’re supposed to drink it 30 minutes before eating. This way, you’re apt to better control your portions or choose a lighter meal. They’re 35 calories per decent-sized bottle, and pretty tasty. Did they work? They’re pretty perfect for drinking in between meals, and they definitely keep you feeling fuller for longer. Like most diets, the drinks will only have a noticeable effect if you pair them with an exercise program — which, of course, I did not. That being said, I did the SlimFast diet once upon a time (with diet AND exercise), and was svelte in no time. This drink works similar and tastes a hell of a lot better.

Neuro Trim (and other drinks by Neuro) can be purchased online ($36.99 for a 12-pack) or in a grocery store near you.
