Cincinnati Is Awesome: Who Knew?!

Written by Emily

What’s the first words that come to mind when you think of Cincinnati?  If you were like me, they probably consisted of “nothing is there” and “why would anyone go there?”  Being pretty open minded, I decided to go to territory that’s not generally ventured by New Yorkers.  I mean, why bother?  We have everything here!  Well let me tell you, within my first 6 hours in the city of Cincinnati, Ohio, all that changed.

I was greeted at the airport by Jackie Reau from Cincinnati USA who offered to show me all the sights that her city had to offer.  One thing I noticed right away was that she generally loved Cincinnati and as I met more and more people, I realize that everyone living in Cincinnati all felt the same way, and made sure I knew it too!  Pictured above is the Immaculata Church built before the Civil War atop of Mt. Adams.  Everywhere I was brought had a rich history and a story behind it and if you’re like me, you love hearing all about it.

Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal

Even the Amtrak station was beautifully constructed.  Not only is it a train station, known as the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal, but it houses an OMNIMAX Theater, the Duke Energy Children’s Museum, and the Cincinnati Natural Arts Museum which had a gold exhibit that was amazing.  They added a whole wing dedicated to past and present Cincinnatians.  To check out coming attractions click here!

My favorite part of my trip (aside from all the food which I’ll cover next week) was getting to go to Great American Ball Park for the Cincinnati Reds opening day game.  Leave it to this small city to put out all the stops and put on a parade that baffled me since they haven’t won a series since 1990 (Sorry Ed and Jackie!).  What’s amazing about it is that you’d never know.  These fans are some of the most dedicated because of their faithfulness not only to the Reds, but to the city itself.  I even met some amazing people while at the game who even invited me to go across the bridge to Kentucky to get drinks, yes Kentucky.

Be sure to check back next week as I cover all the food, drinks, and more food that I had.  If you’re a foodie and drink-y like me, you’re going to want to check it out.  My mouth is watering again just thinking about it!
