Channel Your Inner New England Housewife

Written by Ashley

While planning a little New England getaway, with my gal pals, I began to wonder. Should I meet a man in Boston, where they seem to be crawling around, all med-school-occupied but looking for wifeys, would I ever be able to fit into this world?  What if some dude named Tad sweeps me off my feet and I am swept into a world of tennis matches, summering on the Vineyard and seersucker?

Through my research, I have concluded, with a bit of tweaking I can make it work.

Clothing is a breeze– my intense collection of accessories will pair perfectly with the lady like dresses of Lilly Pulitzer.  She and Saks.com are fulfilling my need for come-hither lady-dresses, while allowing me to still stash some cash in my new paisley handbag.

I think this floral frock will do me just fine.

While thinking about casual strolls with Tad down Newbury Street, I figure less is more– the simple classic stuff. But I like to spice things up, and get a little friskier… How bout some outdoor underwear?

Jockey minis y-front® racerback tank $20

Pair an adorable racer back tank from Jockey, with a pair of matching boy shorts.  Pair (over said boy shorts) with an adorable pair of bermuda shorts, oversized shades & some wedges, and you’re a lady. The fact that you’re tastefully dressed with a colorful punch will make Tad drool to no end.

Finally, and most importantly, what to drink.  Nobody likes a drunk lady. Well, Tad doesn’t ( and it’s a damn shame.) I feel as thought I will need to leave my Jack Daniels in Brooklyn and fair for something more Country Club, less Night Club, while still being able to hang with the Prep School Boys. My solution? Xantè Premium Liqueur.  This stuff looks strong, but it’s actually an amazing blend of sweet virgin pears and cognac, just like Tad’s daddy drinks in his study.

I’ve been testing out some recipes, and for the lady in me, this one fits the bill, with a new age twist:

Xanté Ginger Martini
A big bang wrapped in tender loving care

1 ½ oz. Xanté Liqueur
1 ½ oz. lemon juice
1 oz. simple syrup
1 small piece of fresh ginger
Muddle the ginger. Add Xanté, freshly pressed lemon juice and sugar syrup. Shake and
sift twice. Serve in a cocktail glass, garnish with fresh ginger.

So keep this in mind if you’re headed north to find a husband.  This whole wearing underwear in public thing will be our little secret.
