If there’s one thing that every American knows, it’s that Bert and Ernie are giant, flaming gay puppets. I mean, c’mon, they’ve been “roommates” for over 30 years, they’re raising that little adopted duck together, love to dance, and one is a total cranky mess whilst the other is the life of the party. Typical gay love affair, I’d say. It’s not all that surprising that Change.org is petitioning to have these PBS stars get married once and for all:
Through Change.org, the group is petitioning to have popular Sesame Street roommates Bert and Ernie get married. While the creators of Sesame Streetlong-standing rumor that the puppet pals are actually gay, the petition (signed by more than 700 people) argues that the move would teach tolerance and acceptance to the young viewers of the children’s program. Is it time for Bert and Ernie to say “I do”?
