Beauty Spotting: Seasonal Transition Must-Haves

Written by Ashley

Our top picks for helping you keep your Summer skin routine going strong, while transitioning easily in to Fall.

There’s a chill in the air here in NYC, making me dive in to a deep denial that summer is slowly coming to a close. Mostly because I feel like I’ve just become comfortable with a solid beauty routine for summer – and now I’m getting anxiety due to what my skin will go through now that the cold weather is approaching. But, these products have become a solid foundation to help the transition run smoothly, all while keeping me in a good routine to help me ease back in to the warm weather months of 2012.

Feet:

Toe hibernation is upon us, as your feet are hidden beneath socks, flats and boots – but keeping your foot regimen in check throughout the colder season, with a fun, unexpected color, will not only give you confidence in the event you end up at one of those ‘shoes off‘ parties (ugh), but the regular maintenance will make an easier entrance in to sandal weather.  Our picks: CND Anchor Blue [$9 goindulge.com]; LUSH Volcano Foot Mask [$21.95 lushusa.com]; First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream [$28 firstaidbeauty.com]

Skin:

When the temperatures drop, prepare yourself with the following: acne treatments to prevent and treat blemishes that will inevitably pop up from the skin shock, a good moisturizer with SPF (yes, you need it ALL year ’round) and a sheer setting powder to help keep moisture in with additional coverage that won’t be contingent on your skin’s hue. If you’re feeling extra frisky – mix a little extra color in to your SPF moisturizer for a bronzey [read: realistic] glow. Our Picks: Obagi CLENZIderm M.D. [entire system $130/individual products $34-$70 obagi.com]; Proactiv Oil Free Moisture with SPF15 [$35 proactivcatalog.com] ; Dermablend Mineral FInishing Powder [$24 St. Tropez Self-Tan Bronzing Lotion [$30 sttropeztan.com]

Body:

It’s important to keep it the ingredients simple in  shower gels and moisturizers. We love baby lotions for this. They smell amazing and are extra gentle, especially for the areas you’re removing hair from. And while it’s not totally necessary to get yourself in to your favorite spa every 4 weeks, regular maintenance with at-home waxing kits will keep things from getting all wild and crazy, helping you ease back in to your bikini-bod routine time spring. Glowology Firming Bath Gel [$16 glowologyskincare.com]; Mustela Hydra Bebe Body Lotion [$14 ulta.com]; Parissa Legs & Body Strips [$12 parissa.com]
