Beachy Beauty for the Hottest Summer Days

Written by Bryce

Beach days are beauty nightmares unless you know what you’re doing. Hot weather beauty requires a certain level of fancy ingredients and drug store know-how (and a glass of lightly sweetened beauty lemonade), so I’ve whipped up a little gathering of some of my faves for you to fill your weekend bag with:

1. Wipe it all down. Whether it’s getting rid of sweat, extra makeup (like that weird charcoal line that appears the day AFTER you take your mascara/eyeliner combo off), chocolate ice cream smudges, or anything else, we all need a good wipe around. These Simple Radiance Cleansing Wipes get the job done without alcohol or harsh irritants, and you can find them in drugstores on the cheap. Love! (pro tip: wipe your iPhone down at the end of the day with one of these, too)

2. So you got tan even though you applied your SPF? Well, that’s a sign you needed to reapply, because tan now is cute just for today. It won’t be cute when you’re sitting in a derm’s office asking for a wrinkle solution in a few years. BUT, if you happen to be a little tan anyway, the best after care is this nifty little number by Phytomer. It restores skin’s balance after the sun, keeps the color from fading, and locks moisture in so you stay as far away from “leather handbag” status as possible.

3. If you’re going to wear sandals, do it responsibly. I’m not talking arch support here, gals. I’m talking about that crusty-foot thing that happens to so many ill-informed ladies of our generation and beyond. We need to moisturize the area properly! I love CND’s Cucumber Heel Therapy because it’s concentrated (a dab’ll do ya!), smells like a fresh cucumber salad, infused with ingredients like real aloe, and is the same stuff high end salons use. Can’t go wrong.

4. Beachy hair, don’t care. OK, so, let me start off by saying that I had no idea how much I’d love this product until I got it in my most recent GLOSSYBOX. I got one of those wee little samples of Alterna’s Bamboo Beach Ocean Waves that was perfect for my bag, and went off to work. That very same day the mercury hit like nine million degrees, and I nearly melted. My hair was a heinous mess- so I took out my new little spray, spritzed accordingly, and prayed for a miracle at my desk. Almost instantly it took my hair from triangle-head to cutesy, beachy, but not really greasy waves. It’s a win. And trying things in GLOSSYBOX is apparently also a win.

5. Mermaid nails win every time. Teals and blues are a huge hit for this season for nails, and did you know that polishes with even just a minor amount of shimmer in them tend to last longer and chip less because the metallic pigments actually adhere better to nail tissue? Add that to the fact that this polish by Hard Candy is gorgeous and only $4, and I’m sold on a bottle for each of my friends.
