Art Spotting: A Goldfish that Anyone can Keep Alive

Written by Gary

Fukahori uses a complex process of pouring resin into a container, layer-by-layer and painting different parts of the fish onto the substance each time.

All right, I wasn’t going to be the first to say it, but since it seems like nobody else will, the artist that painted these 3D goldfish is named Riusuke Fukahori. I know that in Japan words are pronounced differently and the phrase f*ck a whorey probably doesn’t exist but nonetheless, I still had a little immature chortle to myself. I’m a boy. Deal with it.

Fukahori uses a complex process of pouring resin into a container, layer-by-layer and painting different parts of the fish onto the substance each time. The result is a sculptural conversation piece that is perfect for any (every) New Yorker who is afraid they won’t be able to keep a living fish alive.
