A few years ago, I was lucky enough to spend a heavenly afternoon at a fantastic desert luxury resort called Bab Al Shams, sixty minutes away from the city of Dubai. Right as the sun started setting, we took a walk around the property and stumbled upon this charismatic character and his beautiful bird friend.
At first, not knowing much about the art of falconry, I almost freaked out when I saw the falcon was wearing a “mask,” but soon enough, when I started petting it, I was pretty happy that it was acting chill and actually looked quite comfortable.
Falconry has been around for thousands of years in several parts of the world. However, today more than 50% of the world’s falconers exist in the Arab region and Middle East and is considered a symbol of this region’s civilization more than any other region in the world.
