First of all, I’m attached. But I was just thinking this morning how simple the dating scene was back in middle school when everyone had boyfriends, and you dated all your friends exes and no one really gave a crap. Probably because “dating” back then only consisted of holding hands as you walked to the bus stop and awkward slow dancing at birthday parties, but that’s neither here nor there. Without further adieu, here are 3 reasons why dating in middle school rocked!
1. You had a constant chauffeur
Think about it. If you wanted to go to the movies with your new love interest and all the other couples at school, all you had to do was ask your mom and she’d take you and the kids to the theater, give you money for a ticket plus snacks and pick you up! Now, that’s what I’m talking about.
2. You got great gifts
If your boyfriend’s mom had any taste (she better have or you wouldn’t be dating her son), you were in luck when your birthday, Valentine’s Day or Christmas rolled around because chances are, she was the one choosing the gift!
3. You could play the field without getting bitch slapped.
In middle school, it was more or less chill to date every hottie in your grade at some point throughout the three years you were there. Now, if your BFF just broke up with her bf, he was off limits until next year, but you get my point. The dating scene was full of eligible bachelors just dying to make out or cop a feel in the basement.
