The Rise of Designer Activewear

Written by corey

When it comes to working out, you may want to take the designer route.

From the fashion girls of SoulCycle to the ladies who juice, activewear and a healthy lifestyle has become a major trend in the fashion world. Personally, I’m not one to hop on a bike for an hour and not go anywhere, but I totally see the appeal.

It all started to pick up not too long ago, when every girl I met at fashion week parties was skipping out early to make their morning SoulCycle class. What I thought would just be a trend, has made a serious impact on the world of fashion. It’s been announced that Theory will be releasing a line of activewear known as Theory+ and Net-A-Porter has already released a micro-site known as Net-A-Sporter.

Then it was designers like Chanel and Dior that showed sneakers on the runway, which sent the fashion world into a tizzy. However, if you kept your eye on street-trends you were totally able to see this coming. The fashion crowd was mixing Nikes with khakis or boyfriend jeans. Brands like Free People have already entered into the space without sacrificing their brand identity and Tory Burch plans on entering the market in 2015.

It’s not hard to notice these kinds of things either, as you can usually see women sporting their workout clothing all day. Just a quick stroll on the contemporary floors of Barneys or Bergdorf Goodman, you’ll find women wearing workout shorts and picking up shirts from Alexander Wang to try on.

The question is: will this trend fall off? Or are we looking at a healthier lifestyle for all?
