Foods for longer fingernails: what to eat to grow some serious talons.

Who doesn’t want to have long, beautiful fingernails? They make your fingers look so much more elegant, and they are a necessary addition to your beauty care regimen.

Worried that your fingernails are growing too slowly? Here are a few foods you can eat to help them grow:

  1. Salmon —  Salmon is loaded with Vitamin D, a nutrient that is needed in order for your body to absorb calcium. Calcium helps to nourish your bones, teeth, and fingernails, so it’s important to get more Vitamin D in your diet. As a bonus, the protein in the salmon will help your body produce more collagen, ensuring improved skin and nail health!
  2. Bananas — Who doesn’t love a banana for breakfast? If you start the day off with one of these tasty fruits, you give your body the biotin and Vitamin H it needs to increase the production of fingernail cells. Plus, the Vitamin H will go a long way toward improving your hair health!
  3. Eggs — Eggs are loaded with protein, the nutrient that is used to form the keratin of your fingernails. You’ll find that eggs are one of the best sources of protein, as it’s low in fat but rich in other vital nutrients. Eating more eggs will help to speed up your fingernail growth drastically.
  4. Beef — Red meat contains B vitamins that you can find in very few other places, and those B vitamins will speed up your metabolism and help your body to work faster. You’ll find that red meat is also a great source of protein, and that protein will promote nail growth. Finally, beef is rich in zinc, which is needed for healthy nails.

  1. Oats — When you eat a bowl of oats, you consume a good deal of the zinc your nails need to stay healthy. If your fingernails are weak or growing very slowly, it may be the result of a zinc deficiency in your diet. Eat more oats to increase the amount of zinc your body can use to grow strong, healthy nails!
  2. Kale — Kale is one of the best all-around foods for health and beauty, and it’s a good food to eat if you want healthy nails. Kale is loaded with iron, which helps you to grow thick, strong nails. If you notice that your nails are ridged, curved, or too thin, it may be the result of an iron deficiency, so it’s time to eat more kale!
  3. Wheat Germ — Not only is this whole grain loaded with healthy fiber and essential nutrients, but you’ll find that it’s one of the best sources of biotin around. Biotin is needed for healthy cell growth, and it enables your body to metabolize protein. Eat more wheat germ for your nails’ sake.
  4. Lamb — Lamb is another one of the proteins you should be eating in order to have healthier nails. Not only is it rich in the amino acids needed to produce keratin–the building block of hair and nails–but it’s also loaded with iron and zinc.
  5. Quinoa — Quinoa is a delicious food that has become supremely popular thanks to the fact that it’s VERY good for your health. It’s not only a great source of healthy carbs and low-fat protein, but you can get a lot of nail-nourishing minerals from it as well. It’s definitely a food to add to your diet list!

Eat more of these foods, and watch your nails grow healthy, long, and strong.

  • If you want even better tips: rub castor oil on your nails and cuticle every night and morning, and if you can think of it, rub a cut up garlic over and under your nails (I love the smell of garlic), or you can even place tiny chunks of garlic in your clear polish, soak in the sun for a few days, then use. My nails grew so fast and strong very quickly.
