8 Candida Overgrowth Symptoms to Watch For

Catch it before things get out of control!

Did you know that there are bacteria, viruses, and fungi attacking your body every day? Your immune system is endlessly struggling to keep you protected from myriad threats, most of which you never even knew existed.

For example, the female body is host to candida albicans, a fungi that lives in warm, moist places: the mouth, the feet, and the vagina. If your immune response is dampened for any reason, there is a very real chance that the candida yeast will be able to grow and spread out of control. This can lead to yeast infections, which can be both painful and irritating!

How can you tell if you’re at risk of an infection? Here are a few candida overgrowth symptoms to watch out for:

  • Infections — More specifically, fungal infections in your toenails and skin. While they are not as common as regular yeast infections, they are a sign that the yeast infections have spread out of control!
  • Neurological issues –– If the candida overgrowth gets bad enough, there is a very real chance that it can affect your brain. You may have a hard time concentrating, your memory suffers, and you may not be able to focus. These are all signs that things are out of control.
  • Fatigue –– There is a certain amount of fatigue to be expected from those who lead busy lives, but that sort of fatigue should go away with a good night’s sleep. If the fatigue sticks around, it’s a sign that things are out of control. A chronic or long-lasting infection can tax your body’s energy reserves, leading to chronic fatigue or tiredness.
  • Digestive issues –– When the yeast is able to grow out of control, it can often kill off the bacteria that are necessary for a healthy body. Suppressed immunity can be the result of reduced beneficial bacteria in your intestines, and digestive issues are another unpleasant side effect.

  • Skin issues –– Psoriasis, eczema, rashes, and hives can all be caused by bacteria and fungi, another indication that there is something wrong. These skin issues usually only set in when your immune system has been compromised.
  • Lady part infections — Urinary tract infections, yeast infections, rectal itching, and vaginal itching are all symptoms that the candida yeast has grown out of control. Thanks to the candida yeast, your compromised immune system is unable to protect your body from these infections.
  • Cravings -– This may sound odd, but it’s true! Candida is a type of fungi, which needs sugar in order to grow and thrive. If the candida spreads out of control, it will use up most of the sugar naturally present in your body. The result: you feel a need to replenish lost sugar, leading to sugar cravings.
  • Emotional problems –– Long-term infections can lead to emotional problems like irritability, crankiness, mood swings, anxiety, and even depression. The candida yeast infection may be responsible for causing these problems if it spreads out of control.

The truth is that candida yeast infections can be very serious if left untreated, so it’s in your best interest to deal with the problem as soon as possible. Thankfully, there are MANY natural remedies you can use to treat the issue, as well as medications that can clear up the infection quickly. Visit your doctor to get a proper diagnosis on your infection, as well as recommendations on the best way to deal with the yeast infection before it gets out of control!
