11 Year Olds Having Babies… Yeesh.

I’m sure most of you 20-somethings reading this have probably thought at least one time in the last month, “I’m not ready to have a kid. I’m too young.” Well, you’re not. You could actually be a grandparent right now if you were anything like 11 year old Kordeza Zhelyazkova in Bulgaria.
The 11 year old gave birth to a healthy daughter, Violeta, on her wedding day while dressed in a white dress and Tiara. Apparently Mom and baby left the hospital after one night so wedding celebrations could be resumed. Lifetime has not announced any plans to make this into a movie… yet.
Kordeza said she and her 19-year-old husband, Jeliazko Dimitrov, first met in the playground at her school in the after he saved her from bullies. She said the pair began a sexual relationship almost immediately even though she knew nothing about sex or condoms and became pregnant within a week.
“I’m not going to play with toys anymore. I have a new toy now,” she was quoted saying.
“She is so beautiful, I love her … Violeta is the child and I must grow up. I am not going back to school — I am a mother now.”
Apparently the 11 year old didn’t realize she was pregnant until her grandmother pointed out that she was getting fat.
“I just thought I’d eaten too many burgers,” she pointed out.
Her husband, Mr. Dimitrov, could be jailed for up to six years for having sex with a girl under 14… and we can’t help but wonder why these two were encouraged to marry.
“I’m scared. I want to look after my wife and child, instead I may be going to prison,” he said.
“I made a mistake but I am not going to apologise for that because now I have beautiful Violeta.”
Kordez mentioned she has no plans for more children.
