Fondue Underground

Cheese Fondue

It’s close to impossible, when you’ve hung out too many late nights at Gibraltar Lounge – they used to call me chica fiesta -, to have imagined how cute and cozy La Cave des Fondus turns out to be.

The new eatery, i.e. french-struck heaven, opened doors on Tuesday on Prince Street downstairs from Chez Jacques, its sister establishment. A full house of guests gathered tonight to be fed raclette, perfectly seasoned boeuf bourguignon while chugging down wine in baby bottles, a classic service protocole inspired by Montmartre’s Le Refuge des Fondus.

Despite the sales%%% overload around the city and very little purchase without guilt even on a 70% off party dress, New Yorkers (at least the ones in my crew) know how to bask into the Holiday Spirit without a faux pas.

Nothing says winter celebration more than wooden communal tables, comfort food to share and French red wine…

La Cave des Fondus: 20 Prince Street, between Mott and Elizabeth; 212-966-5073 – see the full dinner menu on Thrillist.com

  2. That sounds like the perfect winter meal. I will definitely head there for a night of decadent gluttony. Mmmmmm.
